Oct. 5th, 2015, with the contribution of CUSA, the yearly workshop of Utrecht Research Funding Days on international cooperative projects between China and the Netherlands has achieved a great success.

Two experienced researchers were invited to share their experiences about how to apply for the NSFC-NWO projects. Dr. Dick Ettema, an associate professor of Geoscience in Utrecht University as well as the co-leader of the NSFC-NWO project, gave the speech at first. He used his own project as an example to introduce the process of the application as well as some practical tips for a better and more effective collaboration with Chinese scholars. Then Dr. Zhisheng Huang, who is a senior researcher of VU University Amsterdam and also a co-leader of several Sino-Netherlands joint projects shared his experiences about applying different kinds of international projects between China and the Netherlands. He put an extra emphasis on the importance of establishing a cooperative network before applying the projects. Furthermore, he pointed out that the elaborate communication between two sides of scholars was vital for the success of the collaboration.

The Utrecht Research Funding Days co-sponsored by CUSA and UU provided a unique opportunity for researchers to gather information on the collaborative programme between China and Netherland.
